The Cix Health app doesn’t cost anything to use. We do not charge our users for downloading, creating an account, or using the app.

No. HIPAA only applies to certain healthcare providers (e.g., medical practices, home health agencies, hospitals, therapists), insurance companies, and medical claims processing companies. It doesn’t apply to individuals who don’t fit into any of the above categories. State healthcare privacy laws are very similar, and generally apply to medical and billing records maintained by healthcare companies and their vendors.

Yes. The Cix Health Terms of Use prohibits its users from entering someone else’s information into our app without their permission. If you enter or share information about an individual without their consent, you will be in breach of your agreement with Cix Health. In addition, individuals have a legal right to privacy in many states. Disclosing a person’s private information without their consent can lead to legal consequences, especially if that person is harmed by the disclosure. For example, if you enter your loved one’s medical diagnosis into their profile in the Cix Health app, and then share their profile with a third party without their consent, and the third party’s knowledge of their diagnosis causes financial or reputational harm to them, you could be held legally responsible for that harm. You should always get consent from your loved one before including sensitive information in the Cix Health app, and before sharing that information with any third parties.
